October Moonlight Guided Foraging Course

£49.00
Friday, 9th October 2026
7:00pm - 9:30pm

Under the light of the moon, experience foraging like never before.

Donned with torches, UV lights and and guided by the light of the moon, explore the forests and meadows for seasonal fungi and plants.

The practice of nighttime foraging has been recorded throughout history. Mushroom hunters would set out into the forests with oil lamps, hunting for the edible treasures of nature. Traditionally, certain mushrooms, flowers and herbs were collected by the light of the moon. This is due to mushrooms releasing particular scents as the humidity of night rises, moths pollenate the flowers and bioluminescence of certain mushrooms glow!

During the night, mushroom caps fully open, revealing gills, the cuticle becomes more elastic, reducing harvest damage and specific enzymes activate, intensifying aromas. Connect with your senses in the dark, learning ways of finding and identifying plants and fungi by smell, sounds and feel.

Half way around, enjoy a seasonal snack and drink made with things we have found on the day.

Set in the stunning South Downs National Park near Liphook, GU31. An email with full location and details on what to bring will be emailed to you 2 days prior so keep an eye out on your inbox and junk emails.
